Angel

After his romantic debacle involving the Slayer back in Sunnydale, Angel relocated to LA, intent on saving some souls and hopefully, his own. He accidentally ran into Cordelia Chase, a former Sunnydale High cheerleader and a once member of the Scooby Gang. Angel appointed Cordelia as his secretary, and with the help of Doyle, a Irish half demon who received visions of people in need, the Angel Investigations team worked to help the hopeless.

Tragically, Doyle died suddenly, giving his life to save a group of demons. Cordelia inherited his seeing powers, and the vampire's friendship with his secretary grew since they were the remaining two. Then came Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, a Watcher turned 'rogue demon hunter' that Angel and Cordy met in Sunnydale. Angel hired Wesley, and the team continued saving those in need, soon with the addition of Charles Gunn, a streetwise vampire killer.

Everything was going fine. Then, Darla. Angel's sire was resurrected. Human, then revamped by Drusilla, a vamp Angel sired. Dru and Darla became Angel's obsession, and fearing he would turn evil, he fired his crew. After a few months in the solo lane, his dark period, caring for no one, Angel had an epiphany, and now changed his ways, working for Wesley.

Returning to his friends instilled a newfound sense of compassion and bonding for them all. When Cordelia was spirited away to Pylea, Angel went to hell (figuratively) and back to save her. Only to find out that Buffy died when he returned home again with his friends. After mourning for the summer on his spiritual retreat, Angel came back. And he was changed.
